Merge Drop: free to play in your browser
Merge Drop is a physics merge puzzle. You drop small glowing worlds into a jar, and whenever two identical worlds touch they fuse into the next size up. There are eleven sizes, from a tiny Moonlet to a blazing Supernova, and the jar fills quickly if you are careless about where things land.
Solo play is a relaxed chase for a high score and your biggest world yet. The 2-player versus mode turns it into a scrap: each player has their own jar on the same screen, and large fusions hurl meteors into your rival's jar.
How to play
- Aim along the top of the jar with the stick, d-pad, A/D or the arrow keys.
- Drop the world with A, Space (player 1) or Enter (player 2). On touch, drag to aim and lift to drop.
- Check the Next box to plan where the following world will go.
- Let matching worlds touch so they fuse into a bigger one.
- Keep the pile below the dashed line. If it stays above for two seconds, the jar overflows and you lose.
Game modes
- 1 Player
- Score as much as you can before the jar overflows. Your best score is saved on your device.
- 2 Player Versus
- Fusing a sixth-size world or bigger sends 1 to 3 meteors into your opponent's jar. Meteors never fuse, and the first jar to overflow loses.
Tips
- New drops are always one of the five smallest worlds, so keep small ones together near the top where they can find a partner.
- Fusions that happen within a second of each other build a chain multiplier of up to x5, so set up worlds that will merge in sequence.
- Keep your biggest worlds in a corner at the bottom; a big world in the middle splits the jar in two.
- There is a half-second wait between drops, so aim while the next world is loading.
- Meteors crack when a fusion happens next to them and shatter after three hits for 50 points. They also burn out on their own after 30 seconds.
- Two Supernovas collapse into a 5,000-point flash that clears them both from the jar.
Questions
Is Merge Drop free with no download?
Yes. It runs in your browser for free, with nothing to install and no account needed.
Does it work with a controller or on a phone?
Xbox, PlayStation and Switch Pro controllers all work, plus keyboard. On phones and iPad you drag your finger to aim and lift it to drop.
How do two people play?
Pick 2 Player Versus. Use two controllers, or one player on A/D and Space and the other on the arrows and Enter. On a touchscreen each player gets their own half of the screen.
