Puck Panic: free to play in your browser

Puck Panic is neon air hockey for two. Each player guards a goal at one end of the rink and moves a mallet around their own half, smashing the puck off the walls and into the other goal. First to seven goals wins.

It is quick to learn and very hard to put down. Sit next to a friend and play on one keyboard or two controllers, or tackle the CPU on easy, normal or hard if you are playing on your own. On a phone or iPad you simply drag your mallet with a finger.

How to play

  1. Choose 2 Players, or Vs CPU on easy, normal or hard.
  2. Move your mallet with the left stick or d-pad, WASD for player 1 or the arrow keys for player 2.
  3. On touch screens or with a mouse, drag on your half of the rink.
  4. Hit the puck into the glowing goal on your opponent's side to score.
  5. Stay on your half – mallets cannot cross the centre line.
  6. First to 7 goals wins the match.

Game modes

2 Players
Head-to-head on one screen. Player 1 is pink on the left, player 2 is cyan on the right.
Vs CPU
Three difficulty levels. Easy is slow and makes mistakes; hard moves fast, reacts almost instantly and aims well.

Tips

  • Hit the puck while your mallet is moving – your speed transfers into the shot, so a swing hits far harder than a block.
  • Bank shots off the side walls are hard to read, and the puck keeps most of its speed on each bounce.
  • Keep your mallet between the puck and your goal when it is on the other side, rather than chasing it.
  • After you concede, the puck is placed on your side, so you always get the next touch – plan a strong serve.
  • Watch the goal posts: a puck that clips a post can bounce straight back out.
