Block Party: free to play in your browser
Block Party is a 16-bit style platformer with bright pastel worlds and chunky pixel heroes. Run and jump through World 1-1, Neon Meadows: hit the cyan party blocks for coins and power-ups, bust pink bricks, stomp the little dome bots and reach the glowing party portal before the clock runs out.
Before you start you choose one of four heroes, and each plays differently. Pixie is the all-rounder with a mid-air spin, Bolt can hover, Nova is the fastest and can jump off walls, and Bruno is slow but smashes bricks and ground-pounds anything below him.
How to play
- Choose your hero with left and right, then press jump to start.
- Run with the stick, d-pad, A/D or the arrow keys. Jump with A on a controller, or W, Up or Space on the keyboard. Hold jump to go higher.
- Jump into cyan party blocks from below. Some hold coins, some hold a power-up battery.
- Grab a battery to get charged: you glow yellow, can break bricks, and survive one extra hit.
- Land on dome bots from above to stomp them. Spiky slugs hurt to land on, unless you are spinning (Pixie) or ground-pounding (Bruno).
- Touch the checkpoint flag halfway through so you restart there if you lose a life, then reach the party portal at the end.
Game modes
- Pixie
- The all-rounder. Press jump again in mid-air for a spin jump, which also lets her bounce safely off spiky slugs.
- Bolt
- Lower top speed, but hold jump while falling to hover for a moment. Great for crossing wide gaps.
- Nova
- The fastest hero. Slide down walls and press jump to kick off them.
- Bruno
- Slow with a short jump, but he breaks bricks from below without a power-up. Press down in the air to ground-pound: it smashes bricks under him and knocks out nearby bots.
Tips
- Every coin is 50 points and every 50 coins earns an extra life.
- Time left at the end turns into bonus points, so a fast run scores more.
- A charged hero can break bricks, which opens up shortcuts and hidden coins.
- Bots turn around at ledges, so wait for one to walk away before you drop down beside it.
- Over the long cloud gaps, jump early: the clouds are jump-through platforms, so you can land on them from below.
