Snake Showdown: free to play in your browser
Snake Showdown takes the classic snake game and turns it into a battle. Up to four snakes share one arena. Eat the green food to grow longer, then use your body as a wall to cut the others off. Hit a wall, another snake or yourself and you are out. The last snake alive takes the round, and the first to three rounds wins.
It is made for couch multiplayer with friends on one screen, but you can also play alone against three CPU snakes. Each round starts slow and gradually speeds up, so even long rounds stay tense.
How to play
- Choose a mode: 2, 3 or 4 players, 2 players plus 2 CPU, or you against 3 CPU.
- Steer with the stick or d-pad, WASD for player 1 or the arrow keys for player 2.
- On a phone or iPad, tap the left and right buttons to turn.
- Eat food to grow three segments longer.
- Avoid the arena walls, other snakes and your own tail.
- Be the last snake alive to win the round; first to three wins the match.
Game modes
- 2, 3 or 4 Players
- Local multiplayer on one screen. Players 3 and 4 need controllers.
- 2 Players + 2 CPU
- Two humans and two CPU snakes, so the arena is always full.
- Vs CPU
- You against three CPU snakes that chase food and look for open space.
Tips
- When a snake crashes, its body breaks into food. Stay close to big fights and you can grow quickly from the leftovers.
- Two heads meeting on the same square knocks out both snakes, so do not play chicken unless you are happy to draw.
- Leave yourself room. Coiling into a corner is the fastest way to trap yourself.
- Turn presses are queued, so you can tap two directions quickly to make a tight U-turn.
- The game speeds up the longer a round lasts. Get long early, then focus on boxing others in.
