Flappy Wing is a one-button flying game with a proper 8-bit arcade look: chunky pixels, a striped sunset, a sleeping city and CRT scanlines. Tap to flap your little yellow bird, let go to drop, and thread the gap between each pair of brick towers. Clip a tower or hit the ground and your run is over. Gold coins spin in some of the gaps for bonus points if you are brave enough to grab them.

The first towers are wide apart and forgiving, then the course speeds up and the gaps tighten. It is perfect for a quick go between other games, and the two-player race turns it into a nerve-testing duel: both birds fly the same course at the same time, and the last one still flying wins.

How to play

1. Pick 1 Player for a high-score run or 2 Player Race to fly against a friend.
2. Press A on a controller, W or Space on the keyboard, or tap the screen to flap.
3. Release to fall. Each flap is a small hop, so keep a steady rhythm.
4. Fly through the gap between each pair of towers. Every gap you clear scores a point.
5. Collect gold coins for 3 bonus points each.
6. Hitting a tower or the ground ends your run.

Game modes

1 Player

An endless run for the highest score. Your hi-score is saved on your device and shown at the top of the screen, arcade style.

2 Player Race

Two birds, yellow and pink, fly the same course at once. Player 1 flaps with W or Space, player 2 with Up or Enter, or use two controllers. On a tablet, the left half of the screen is player 1 and the right half is player 2. The last bird flying wins.

Tips

• Aim for the middle of each gap rather than the edge you are closest to; it gives you room to correct.
• Watch the next towers, not your bird. Start lining up as soon as you clear a gap.
• Coins sit inside the gaps, so only chase one if it is on your line through the towers.
• The game speeds up after the first ten towers. Use the early ones to find your rhythm.
• In a race, steady flying beats risky coin-grabbing: one crash ends it.
